Bless Your Heart

Book: Bless Your Heart ❤️

Author: Susann Camus

Review:

I picked up Bless Your Heart without knowing much about it, and it turned out to be a surprisingly engaging read. The story follows Jeannie Johal, a calm, intelligent healthcare researcher sent to a small town in North Carolina to investigate issues in a pharmaceutical study. What she walks into, though, is far more dangerous—a murder on her first day, a shady correctional facility nearby, and locals who seem to be hiding more than they’re saying. The mystery unfolds steadily, with just the right balance of tension and realism to keep you hooked.

What really stood out to me was how the book builds suspense through atmosphere and subtle interactions instead of over-the-top drama. The setting feels vivid, from the eerie Arboretum to the tightly wound community of Greenville. Jeannie isn’t flashy or dramatic, but that’s what makes her so believable and refreshing as a lead. This is a smart, slow-burning thriller that doesn’t try too hard—it just pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages. A great pick for readers who enjoy thoughtful mysteries with a strong female lead.
