Wreaking Vengeance

Title: Wreaking Vengeance
Author: Lynn-Steven Johanson
Genre: Mystery

The strongest aspect of Wreaking Vengeance is its procedural realism. Rather than jumping to conclusions, detectives Joe Erickson and Sam Renaldo systematically investigate every lead. They interview family members, examine email correspondence, review financial connections, and verify alibis. Readers who enjoy methodical police work will appreciate the attention to detail.

One particularly interesting thread involves Mark Naughton, a customer who purchased an Affenpinscher puppy from Jennifer Logan. His escalating email dispute over the dog's behavior creates a plausible motive, yet the detectives don't simply accept the obvious explanation. Instead, they dig deeper into breeder agreements, kennel club practices, and the realities of dog ownership before drawing conclusions.

The author also does an excellent job demonstrating how investigations evolve. Information gathered from Jennifer's attorney leads to interviews with her sister. Digital evidence generates new suspects. Personal relationships create additional avenues of inquiry. Every lead feels interconnected and purposeful.

Readers who enjoy authentic detective work will find this novel highly satisfying.
